Neutrogena VS Nivea
As I removed my makeup last night I went to reach for my normal eye makeup remover (Nivea) and noticed I had a brand new bottle (Neutrogena) which I wanted to test out and so I did!I applied each product to its own cotton pad and swiped my eyes a few time the way I normally would.
Both claim to remove waterproof makeup, Neutrogena is a liquid and claims to be oil free while Nivea is a cream consistency and claims to be good for all skin types.
Here are my findings.
(only tested on eye area)
Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover
What I liked:
- It did remove 95% of my eye makeup including mascara and I'm sure if I had gone over it again it would have all been gone
- This item is affordable at I believe under $10.00
- Easy to use
- A little goes a long way
- No offensive odor
- Even though this product claims to be oil free there was a really oily feeling on my skin after use and even while washing with a cleanser after
- I wouldn't want to travel with this bottle as it looks like it could come open and spill everywhere
- This item would probably not be the greatest for oily skin
- I also wouldn't recommend this for sensitive skin
Nivea Visage Eye Makeup Remover
What I liked:
- The creamy consistency
- The fact that my skin didn't feel oily after use
- That it took off about 90% of my mascara and eye makeup
- Easy to use
- Compact size
- I would be ok with traveling with this one because the lid snaps shut and is pretty tight as well I feel there is a less likely hood of it spilling
- A little goes a long way
- No odor
- Affordable, I believe I got this on sale at Shoppers for $4.99
- Didn't remove as well as the Neutrogena did
Conclusion:
If I had a choice between the 2 I would go with the Nivea Visage for sure. I felt that the oily residue of the Neutrogena even though it may not be oil made my skin feel uncomfortable and way too oily for my liking.
Even though the Nivea didn't remove as much mascara as the Neutrogena did, it still removed quite a bit and I'm sure if I went over with another application it would have gotten it all.
I used my normal Biore face wash after and it removed whatever makeup was left but I wouldn't recommend using either of these removers all over the face.
So my clear choice would be the Nivea Visage Eye Makeup Remover! In fact I've now added it to my kit an addition to my wipes...
Have you used either one of these removers before?
Which do you prefer?

thanks for the review, farah :) i have been at battle finding good make-up removers for quite some time... so i'm always looking for new reviews. i've never tried either of these but i might have to try the nivea one. i've been religious with avon's lotion eye-makeup remover but you know... never satisfied :) hehe

I've used the Neutrogena one and I don't really like it either, it takes a few wipes to remove everything.
I like MAC's cleansing oil and makeup remover (pink bottle called Gently Off). It was a splurge but they both remove really well.
I like cream removers, so I must check this Nivea one out! Thanks!
u are so talanted. your makeup looks flawless!
