Revolution Organics Cosmetics 100% Natural Freedom Gloss

The Revolution Organics Cosmetics Freedom Gloss was included in our "Swag bags" for the Toronto beauty blogger meetup last weekend and as I was putting together the bags for all the girls I kept glancing over at the bright pink tubes that these lip glosses come in. I'm normally not one to be lured in with fancy or cute packaging but this one stood out.

About Revolution Organics Cosmetics:
It was founded by Melissa Shabinsky and Alexandra Zanella who created the line out of their own personal desire to simplify their lives and to make healthy, responsible lifestyle choices, beauty products included. They wanted luxurious, beautifully formulated, healthy multi-purpose beauty products that could do more so we could use less.

Their products are free of synthetics, chemicals, parabens, mineral oil, artificial ingredients, petrochemicals and are not tested on animals.

The company generously donated these Freedom lip glosses to our event and with its fun hot pink and black packaging were a big hit!

The glosses are formulated with 100% natural and 85% certified organic ingredients, the product delivers all the benefits of a lip treatment in a gorgeous gloss!
The glosses are available in the following shades:
  • Innocent: Soft Baby Pink
  • Truth: Sheer True Pink
  • Integrity: Shimmering Golden Rose
  • Freedom: True Strawberry Red
  • Vibe: Fresh Warm Peach

I happen to get the shade "Innocent" and tested it out this morning. I wasn't sure what to expect as I'm a very picky gloss girl but was pleasantly surprised with how this product felt on my lips. It isn't sticky at all and almost feels like a balm instead of a gloss which for me is perfect!

This color is super sheer and though it only left a hint of color on my lips it didn't bother me at all since clear is usually my color of choice anyways. My lips are shiny and feel moisturized without feeling heavy or sticky. This is truly the perfect gloss for me! At a retail cost of $29.00 (theshoppingchannel.com) its a bit pricey but very realistic in the world of natural beauty.

Thank you so much to the super sweet ladies at Revolution Organics Cosmetics for not only donating so generously but for creating such an amazing product.

Something to think about ladies.....
According to the famous Dr.Mehmet Oz in a course of a decade women can consume about 7lbs of lip gloss! I don't know about you but if I'm going to be consuming any lip gloss I would much rather consume one that's 100% natural ;)

Yves Rocher Creamy Khol & SOS Split Ends Treatment

A few years ago I had only heard of Yves Rocher and truthfully associated it with products my mother or grandmother would use. I'm not sure why but it just never appealed to me until I saw an ad somewhere and decided to check out there website.

Once I did I realized that there were SO many things I would love to try and so I placed an order and even got a free beach blanket included as a gift with purchase. The items arrived (I ordered some creams) and I happily used the products and when they finished I meant to order more however never got around to it.

That was about a year ago so when I was contacted by a rep at Yves Rocher to test out some of their products I couldn't say no! I chose the Creamy Khol & SOS Split Ends Treatment and have been testing them out since their arrival.

What I love about the Creamy Khol is that it comes in this cute lipstick style packaging. It twists up to reveal a cone shaped eye khol in an intense black colour. It's fully formulated with natural ingredients and has a rich and creamy texture.

I love that the packaging makes it easy to find when I drop it in my "big" purse cuz my slim pencil liners seem to always get lost amongst my pens and papers. The creamy texture makes it super easy to apply and is great for achieving that smudged liner look.

The color is intense which I love however when used on my lower water line it never says for more then a few hours which I don't like. I'm also puzzled as to how this would continue to work once the point wears down a bit since I don't think you can sharpen it.

Overall I think this liner is compact, easy for on the go application and is currently on sale for 50% off! Regularly $16.00 its now just $8.00 which is a great price for it being 100% natural Origin!

The SOS Split Ends Treatment was something I was interested in because I'm horrible at getting my hair trimmed regularly therefore I have split ends and wanted something that would help my poor hair.
I have used this product a few times and although I'm not sure if its solved my split end problem just yet, it has made my hair softer and made it appear healthier (to me anyways). It has a generic shampoo smell to it and is used as a leave in treatment on damp or dry hair. Its also 100% botanical which again is a huge plus for me.

I will continue to use this product to see if it indeed helps my split ends but also for the fact that's its made my hair softer which I love. It currently retails on YvesRocher.ca for $16.00 for a 50ml tube.

I am once again pleased with my Yves Rocher products and suggest checking out their website for great products, specials and amazing gift with purchases!

Do you own any Yves Rocher products? What would you suggest I try next time?

CoverFX Beauty Blogger Event

I was invited to attend the first ever CoverFX Beauty Blogger Event which was held last night. I wasn't sure what to expect when I arrived but was so warmly greeted by the whole CoverFX team. They had snacks and drinks waiting for us, look at the spread and these adorable cupcakes provided by Sugar Baking!

CoverFX logo and mini Skin Prep

The room was set up in a U shape with pretty flowers as well as products and brushes on the tables for us to play with.

Here Wanda Longo sets up next to the brand new CoverFX stand (to hit Sephora and other retailers soon)

I was actually surprised but happy to see CoverFX founders Lee Graff and Jenny Frankel in attendance. They were so sweet and talked about their backgrounds and how CoverFX came to be.
Jenny Frankel

Lee Graff

Part of their new campaign "Dermatologists first choice for flawless looking skin". No matter what your skin issue is CoverFX will help :)

Then it was time for demos! Lee (left) demonstrated how CoverFX can cover rosacea quickly and flawlessly. Wanda (middle) helps Jenny Frankle cover a dark mark on her face and Katherine (right) helps Jenny's daughter with her under eye circles.

Right side covered with CoverFX, left side with no makeup on. Look at the amazing difference! This literally took Lee a minute to do.

Wanda demonstrates the new Big Cover Starer Kit on a blogger.

Before blending

After... flawless!

It was an amazing 2 hour event and we all walked away with goodies suited to our skin tone.

The big cover starter kit (valued at over $135) will retail for $79 and includes a mini SkinPrep FX, total coverage cream foundation, Setting FX powder, a full sized foundation brush and a how to instructional CD.

We also got a Mint Glaze a fortifying lip treat-mint primer (which I've been dying to try), mini BritePrep FX , mini ClearPrep FX and a lovely thank you card from Melissa.

Not only was this event informational but it was also very inspirational. To see a product that was created to help those with everything from severe rosacea to us women suffering with under eye circles was amazing. Their foundations are water resistant (which make them ideal for swimmers, brides or anyone with watery eyes like myself), are oil free and paraben free which is an added bonus.

I had a great time and want to really thank all the CoverFX ladies who were so gracious and sweet. I have to say though one big highlight of the night for me was when co-founder Lee Graff came up to me and said I looked familiar, read my name tag and said she had read my blog!! OMG :)
So hi Lee if you're reading this I just wanted to let you know that I'm wearing the foundation I took home last night and am truly amazed and overjoyed at how well it has covered my under eye circles so THANK YOU for creating such a wonderful product!

If you haven't had a chance to check out this line I would say run... run to your nearest Shoppers Drug Mart or Sephora or even online at CoverFX.com and try their products I promise you will love them!

Toronto Beauty Bloggers Meetup a Success!

This past Sunday the event I had been planning since December finally arrived. 25 wonderful ladies got together for brunch all in the name of beauty!

Toronto's biggest beauty bloggers and beauty company reps from as far as Montreal came together for a meet and greet. To finally be able to put faces to the blogs or company reps we talk to and read everyday was amazing. Everyone was so sweet, friendly and happy to be there which made the brunch a huge success.

It took a lot of planning and organizing and stuffing of bags but in the end I know that all the hard work paid off and was much appreciated by all the fantastic ladies that attended.

Here are some pics from the event which took place at Milestones Restaurant (amazing brunch menu btw)

The "swag bags" for each girl.

All the goodies in the swag bags!

Since I kept what was in the bags a secret for the most part the girls were excited to see what was in them.

Burt's Bees Earth Friendly & Natural Products Review

The wonderful people who represent Burt's Bees recently contacted me and asked me if I would like to test out some of their products. Earlier the very same day I was in Shoppers Drug Mart looking at their chapstick and thinking whats the big deal with this brand, so I was happy I was going to get the chance to find out first hand.

Burt's Bees started out in 1984 selling bees wax candles and eventually moved into home-made beeswax lip balms and hand salves at local craft fairs. Although half of their 150+ products are 100% natural they do include a "natural bar" on all their products to help you clearly identify the high level of natural ingredients used in the products.

I was sent the Radiance Night Creme, Radiance Body Lotion, Replenishing Lip Balm with pomegranate oil and the Lip Shimmer in the shade Papaya.

The Radiance night creme has almost a pearl sheen to it and has a fairly runny texture. I have been using it at night and like it. I find it doesn't give me as much moisture as some of the other night creams Ive tried but it does the job. There is a faint scent which I'm not a fan of but I cant put my finger on what exactly it is. I like the texture and pearlized look of the product however I'm not sure I would purchase this item as it didn't do the best job at keeping my face hydrated through the night.
This item would be great if you like light weight moisturizers and at a price of $24.99 cdn it is slightly above drugstore brand creams but may be justifiable for the simple fact that they do not test on animals, is paraben & phthalate free and is 99.02% natural!

The Radiance body lotion has been a hit with me. I like the extremely light-weight texture, size of the product and effectiveness. I found the snap top lid doesn't really open with ease which is a bit annoying as I need two hands to pry it open. The texture is a bit more runny than I'm used to with body lotions but its ok because this just means a little will go a long long way! At a cost of $14.99 I can see this item lasting a while and working really well for anyone at any age although some may need help opening it I would still recommend this product.

The Lip Shimmer
was highly pigmented however the color just wasn't right for me. It was a little too dark and on the brown side and for someone who hardly wears color on her lips this just wasn't working for me. I also wasn't a fan of the shimmer and therefore truthfully tried it on one time. It retails for $5.99 cdn which is a great price for something so pigmented and is 100% natural.

The last item I tried was the Replenishing lip balm which has a slight pinkish hue to it in the tube but was extremely sheer on which I loved. This item felt great on my lips and really kept them moisturized. It does have a scent which I'm sure comes from the pomegranate oil but I don't mind it. This item is 100% natural and sells for $4.49 cdn which is a decent price as far as natural products go. This is definitely a product I will continue to use and would highly recommend.

Do you use Burt's Bees products? What are some of your favorites?
