SURESH SAYS! Tips and Tricks from Celeb Makeup Artist Suresh - Bridal Dont's, Kim K's Concealer & Foundation Tools

Today's is all about one of our features here on FacesByFarah.com called Suresh Says! Where the celebrity makeup artist behind Suresh Beauty answers some of your most asked beauty questions.

In this post Suresh answers a question on concealer, foundation application and bridal makeup Donts!

What concealer and technique works best for the super highlighted Kim Kardashian look?

Suresh Says: A cream concealer, 2 shades lighter than your skin. Swatch vertical stripes under eye area w/the concealer, blend in w/a latex-free sponge or finger. Use a dabbing motion as not to lift a lot of product off the skin.

_______________________________________

What is your fav way to apply foundation? Brush? Beauty blender?

Suresh Says: I always use a brush. For a extra glow, I use my fingers. I only use sponges if I'm wanting a very thin, sheer coverage or if the client's skin is very dry.

_______________________________________

What are your makeup DONT'S for bridal?

Suresh Says: Metallic textures, high-gloss lips, a noticeable line of eyeliner sitting on the eyelid, shimmery bronzer

Follow Suresh on twitter for more great beauty tips ;)
If you have a question you would like to ask Suresh feel free to email me with them and be sure to add "Suresh Says" in the subject line.

Vasanti Cosmetics NEW Fall/Winter Product Swatches

Vasanti Cosmetics have recently launched 3 NEW items for Fall/Winter 2011!

Here are your first look at swatches of the hot new items!

First up A new Ultra Luxe Lipstick With Peptide Technology shade called GREECE ($15) which is a neutral plum purple.

(colour in pic isnt 100% accurate due to lighting its not as orange looking)

Then there is the Vitamin E Infused Lipshine shade named AEGEAN SEA ($15) which is the perfect nudey plum with a soft beautiful sparkle. As always with Vasanti Lipshines they smell amazing, are non-sticky and very moisturizing. This shade is sheer but can be built up.

(Top: Aegean Sea Lipshine, Bottom: Greece Lipstick)

Finally, Vasanti introduces a great new Silky Eyeshadow Duo MOUNT OLYMPUS ($20) to its line up
TOP SHADE: Champagne topaz highlighter can be used under the brow bone, inner corner of the eyes or on the entire eyelids. This unique shade has a twinkling of gold fleck that is picked up by light to add dimension.
BOTTOM SHADE: Coppery bronze gives sultry depth - perfect for the crease and the outer corners of the eyes.

This duo is one of my fav's for sure. Its totally colours I would wear and use on my clients because they go with all skin tones. The pigment is fantastic and the combination of both shades on the eye is stunning!

Vasanti's new items are right on point and on trend for the Fall/Winter season. I can't wait to show all my clients and friends the amazing new shades with the same amazing quality ;)

The above items are available at VasantiCosmetics.com, in select Shoppers Drug Marts & Rexall PharmaPlus' as well as on Amazon.com. Remember Vasanti's website ships Internationally so there is NO excuse not to get your hands on these gems!!!

Makeup Artist Series: Pairing Down Your Kit - Eyeshadows

I had such a great response to my first youtube video and got so many more questions that I wanted to make another video. This one is dedicated to all those makeup artists starting out or even those who have been in the biz a while but could benefit from my experiences.

Today Ill be talking about how to pair down or down size your kit, specifically eye shadows.

My previous post on my old Yazmo.com kit can be found here http://bit.ly/8XLw9P

Where I get my pigment samples from: http://bit.ly/pGEsnG

I hope this information was even just a little bit helpful cuz like I said in the video it took me 3 years to get around to doing this for my kit and trust me when I say I'm SO happy I did!

Thanks for watching, please subscribe, comment and rate as I will be doing a few more videos for this series :)

FOTD + Diet Coke's TIFF Gala Pics

Last night was Diet Coke's TIFF Gala at The Hoxton which I invited to and it was most certainly a showing of the who's who of Toronto. I saw a lot of my fellow tweeters and bloggers there who's live tweets were displayed on the large projection on one wall which seems to be a must at any media event these days.

As we entered we were given long pearl necklaces (a nice touch), as we made our way inside we noticed a green screen photobooth, a Diet Coke chandelier and branding everywhere. Rows of DC bottles along every counter top and even specialty cocktail menus that were sure to include the drink of the night.
To the back there was an oyster stand with different sauces that me and my BFF just had to try! This was my very first time trying oysters and besides the fact that I put way too much hot sauce it was actually pretty good.

The music was amazing thanks to DJ Vivi Diamond, the open bar was put to good use for everyone but me (I was the DD) and we left with a swag bag filled with vintage Diet Coke bottles, Pop Chips and a few other goodies. Here are a few other pics from last nights event.
From the blinged out bathroom to the blinged out hostesses ;)

Despite the small little line on the invite mentioning the old hollywood theme, I wore leopard!!
Check out my FOTD below to see how I decided to do my makeup to go with the top I love so much.

My Loreal Ombrelle Sport Sunscreen Gives Me Dewy Skin!

I started off using it because it was there but when I saw the amazing sheen it left on my skin I was sold!
It has stayed on through some pretty intense outdoor workouts and has helped me avoid those t-shirt tan lines that wont look so hot in my wedding dress.

Thanks L'oreal for making such a fab product, I will be re-purchasing this baby as I'm almost out and the thought of that makes me sad.

Dewy leg & arms = sexy skin SO if you want protection + sexy skin, grab this product on your next Wal-mart run.

Guest Post: Plastic Surgery Misconceptions

We are a celebrity and vanity fuelled society but did you know not all plastic surgery is about being vain? It can be as you will read below, about taking corrective or necessary measures that can benefit ones life.

One common misconception of breast augmentation surgery is that it only applies to enlargement procedures. This is largely because society seems only to notice when someone makes her breasts larger, but not when smaller or less obvious changes are made. However, as you will see if you do a bit of research at relevant websites such as aboutplasticsurgery.com, there are actually multiple types of breast augmentation surgery, each of which serves a different purpose entirely.

Strangely enough to people unfamiliar with the topic, another common type of augmentation surgery is actually used for breast reduction. The fact is, many women who have naturally large breasts find them cumbersome and uncomfortable; in fact, a large number of these women actually experience back problems as a result of the weight of their breasts. For some of these women, breast augmentation is a very appealing solution, as doctors can actually reduce the size of the breasts without negatively affecting their shape or feel.

This type of surgery is also used quite frequently in a reconstructive context. For example, many women who go through battles with breast cancer are forced, at some point during the fight, to give up one or both of their breasts. The augmentation surgery allows such women to have their breasts “rebuilt” in a sense, as surgeons can now essentially reconstruct the breasts more or less exactly as they existed before the cancer. You can imagine how big a part of the physical and emotional recovery process this can be for some women.

If you are considering any of these different procedures, you can do much more extensive online to help you decide what exactly you want and to help you pick a doctor. The purpose of this article is simply to better inform those who do not realize the full capabilities of breast augmentation surgeries. While these medical procedures can indeed be used for enlargement purposes, their potential benefits extend much further.

Fall's Arrival = Vampy Nails! Mac Cosmetics VS Sally Hansen

I don't know about you but with Fall's arrival around the corner rich dark nails are probably what Ill be sporting and replacing my summer brights with.

Two shade that will go head to head for my attention because they are SO similar are Mac Cosmetics Vintage Vamp and Sally Hanson's Hard As Nails in Flirt.

As you can see they are really really similar so one could almost say the Sally Hansen (approx $4-$5) could act as a great dupe for the Mac polish ($15), and while I would agree they are not 100% alike. Just look at the stock photos, the SH polish is NOT that purple in real life.

I found Mac's Vintage Vamp more on the red brown side with no hint of shimmer while Sally Hansen's Flirt is more on the red purple side with the slightest fleck of shimmer that shows only in bright light.

See for yourself... Can you tell the difference?

Similar yes but I'll be rocking BOTH of these amazing vampy shades equally this fall ;)

At Home French Mani - What NOT To Do!

Do NOT apply 2 coats of a base colour, be impatient, apply french manicure strips, add white polish on tips and expect it to NOT come out like this! Notice the ripped up base coat?

Instead, apply French Polish Guide Strips (I used the ones from Nailene) to either bare nails or on top of 1 thin coat of clear base coat. Give ample time to dry, then apply 1-2 THIN layers of white (or coloured) polish to tips. Wait till dry to peel strips off then apply your nude or neutral colour and top coat.

The final result after doing it right and taking my time......

Not quite salon quality, but for this self polishing, french manicuring newb... not half bad!!
