I used to be the girl that went to the nail salon to get my bio gel nails "filled" every 3 weeks without fail but 4 yrs ago when I decided to change careers and go into makeup I gave it up. I Need Sweet Dreams... The Search For The Perfect Mattress

My name is Farah and I have sleep issues :(

I have serious sleep issues that combined with the fact that Scott elbow's me on a weekly basis in his sleep has lead me to believe I need to start the search for the perfect KING sized mattress pronto!

Here's where I need help...

Are you happy with your mattress? Would you (can you please) recommend it?
Where should I start my search?

Our first thoughts are to run to Sleep Country as I have a few family members who are really happy with their purchases from them but we are open to other suggestions.

Getting Into The Holiday Spirit - Our First "Real" Tree

And of course by "Real" I totally mean fake!

This is our first year in our new house, our first holiday season as a married couple and our first "real" (as in not a dinky little condo sized tree) 7ft Xmas Tree!

I will admit I pushed hubby to get it because xmas is still kinda new to me (I had never celebrated before meeting him) and wanted our first year in the house to feel festive. We had some gift certificates left over from the wedding so they went to good use :)

We brought it home and the hubs took over..... yup he did everything from fluffing each branch to putting it together to stringing the lights to decorating it! He was very particular about the way he wanted it and I was totally fine with him doing it.

We (he) started off putting each branch in which took a while but wasn't so bad.

Its never been the joy of putting it together for me I just like seeing the end result!

Speaking of end results.... Here is our very first "real but fake" tree decorated in bronze :)

I'm looking forward to placing presents under our very own tree :) Perhaps Scott will read this and get me some of the items on my wish list ;)

All I Want For Christmas Is....

Im back and now that the wedding is over Im thinking about the holiday season. Ive been asked by family and friends what's on my wish list this year so here it is....

The Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette ($50)... Heck I'll even take the original Naked Shadow Palette ($48) cuz I still don't have it!

A Clairsonic Mia ($119) because I've wanted one forever!

Skin's Shangri La facial moisturizer by LUSH, its a new discovery and a holy grail product that has made my skin its best in years! I want to stock pile this stuff so its on my list ;)

Bliss Fabulous Super Sized Foaming Face Wash ($34) available at Sephora. I bought a mini sample size of this and loved it. Ive run out and need to re-stock. Ive also noticed that there is a Clairsonic/Bliss face wash duo available at Sephora ($210).. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone deal!

Vasanti Cosmetics Nude Pink Lip Kit ($25). Its no secret I adore anything Vasanti has to offer but this is one kit I want. My Sweden lipstick has finished and I use my Norwegian lipshine in my kit so this one will be just for me! Plus the lip brush is an added bonus and I can tell you from experience Vasanti lip brushes are quality!

These are just a few items I will be dropping hints to the hubs about this holiday season.

Post Wedding - Pre Honeymoon Update!

Last weekend I officially became a MRS!

It was the most incredible, memorable and amazing week of our lives and we leave for our honeymoon tomorrow morning so since I've been getting a lot of questions so I wanted to share a few photos with you guys.

Thursday night we had our "Puro" ceremony which was more where I was able to incorporate the Indian side of things. My outfit a royal blue "Anarkali" style suit was hand picked and styled by my mother. I loved this outfit,  not only was the color stunning it was SO comfortable :)

 Me and my Husby. He looked so handsome in his Indian "Sherwani" suit.

Saturday was our wedding day. This was where I got to see the vision I had in my head for years come to life.  All of my DIY's were out, on display and loved by all so it was totally worth the hard work.

I walked down the white carpet with diamond detailing with my father to some classical music he has picked out especially for this day.

We were married under a glowing fabric all white floor to ceiling canopy that made me feel like a princess.

Our backdrop and head table was simply stunning and more than I could have even imagined in my head.  

Our wedding cake was done by my dear friend Jen from Custom Cakes By Jenz who did an outstanding job. This picture doesn't even do it justice and it tasted as good as it looked.

After our cake cutting we had our first dance as husband and wife to Michael Jacksons I Can't Stop Loving You.

 30 Seconds in we surprised our guests with the real deal (well the next best thing!)

A MJ impersonator complete with amazing back up dancers and costume changes during their 45 min set. They performed everything from PYT to Thriller it was seriously one of our best moments of the night.

Once MJ was done it got everyone in the dancing mood so we brought out our flip flop basket!!! The ladies thanked me for helping their feet and the men thanked me for keeping the ladies happy so they could stay longer ;)

Thank you to everyone who sent texts, facebook and twitter messages of congratulations it was so appreciated and we really felt like your spirit was with us on our big day.

We are off to the sun and sand on our honeymoon now :) xo Have a great week :)

Let The Festivities Begin! First Up Henna!

In just a few hours Ill be getting my mehndi (henna) done on my arms and legs. I'll be getting the traditional arabic style similar to the image below.

Did You Know Tomorrow is World Diabetes Day? #Equalcanada #CBias

Did you know that there are more than 9 million Canadians are living with diabetes or prediabetes, and that number is increasing? With November being National Diabetes Month, what better time to talk about preventative measures, and the importance of managing the disease. 

I'm sure we all know someone who is affected with the disease (for me it is my cousin) and at this time there is no cure available, so having a proactive approach to the disease is the only way to properly treat Diabetes.

The 4th annual Report on Diabetes comes out November 10th for World Diabetes Day, 

which is on Nov 14th. The 8 page spread, available in The National Post as well as online, will discuss prevention and diabetes management. 

For this edition they are featuring former wrestling superstar Bret Michaels (who also stared in The Apprentice) as their cover story, he will be discussing his battle with Type 1 Diabetes.

This year, Equal is being featured exclusively as the only artificial sweetener in this publication. Equal will have a spread with a recipe (woohoo!) in the National Post on Nov 10, in conjunction with their 8 page feature for World Diabetes Day.

You may know Ive been in search of Equal sweeteners in some of my past coffee adventures and would love to see it available in more establishments as it is an acceptable part of a diabetics diet. My Rehearsal Dinner Scent Choice Forbidden Euphoria by Calvin Klein

Last night our families and bridal party got together for the wedding rehearsal. My fiance had picked up a new suit that day that he just had to show off which meant that I was forced to dress up so that I wouldnt look like a bum next to this man dressed to the nines!

I had curled my hair earlier that day, threw on a blazer, silk grey top and black fitted pants. Added some jewelry and a bit of makeup and as I started to put my heels on I realized I was missing something.... Perfume!!

I knew exactly which scent I wanted to wear and it was the new Forbidden Euphoria by Calvin Klein. I had tested it out a few days earlier and loved the fresh but sweet scent that has top notes of Mandarin, Passion flower & Raspberry. I spritzed it on and headed downstairs only to be met by a "wow what perfume are you wearing" from my fiance. I smiled and told him it was the scent I had recieved from Matchstick last week along with the amazing bouquet of flowers (us bloggers are sometimes spoiled!)

Once we got past the rehearsal and onto the dinner at the Keg where my mom sat next to be and commented on the scent as well... that was maybe 4 hrs after applying it! The night went great with with only 1 minor hiccup... there was gum on my chair! YEAH I know ONLY me!... so my nice black pants are damaged but the amazing staff at The Keg in Vaughan really looked after us and are even picking up the dry cleaning bill.

Anyway we all had a great time and Im finally starting to get excited for all the wedding events that start tomorrow Eeek!!!

Only Sexy Red Lips For My Stagette!

With under a week to go before I become a MRS I wanted to share some of the wedding related events that have happened over the last few months. The first weekend of October my girls took me away to Niagara Falls for my Stagette.

I didn't really know what was going to happen or where we were going so when we stopped in the west end to meet up with one of the girls who said she wanted to follow us down I was blown away to see my girl Michelle jump out of the car. Why? Because she lives all the way in Calgary!!! She had been working with my MOH this whole time to surprise me! Now THAT is a true friend!

It started off with a wine tour with some of my besties!

See all the wine bottles stacked behind us?! Cool huh?

Then we went for lunch followed by our check in at the hotel. There were 16 pillows in the room when we arrived... SIXTEEN! So you know we just had to do something with them, it ended up with me in the middle with one of Jenz yummy cupcakes.

Then it was time to get ready for dinner, games & dancing!
My bff and maid of honor had decided that as part of the theme we would all be wearing red lips. When I heard that I knew the perfect red lipstick... VASANTI's USA matte lipstick!

It really stood out with our all black attire and got us a lot of attention ;)

Once dinner was done we went back to the hotel to play a few games. My MOH had made the cutest personalized "survival" bags for each of the girls.

She also made us all badges to wear. Check mine out ;) So cute!

Then it was time to hit Blush lounge where I ended up getting seriously hit on as soon as I walked in the door by some guy who really couldn't stop telling me how white my teeth were LOL.  My secret? Vasanti's usa red lippy has blue undertones to it making your teeth look extra white!

We danced, drank, laughed & had one heck of a night!

I had the most amazing time and a night I will never forget! Thank you to my bff for making it all possible and to all the girls that came out and made it amazing! Also thank you to the amazing Vasanti team for providing us with my fav red lipstick ;)

Well... we are down to the final countdown now... getting nervous but so excited! So looking forward to starting this chapter of life with one amazing man!

It Almost Wedding Time!

With less then a week till the crazy & exciting wedding "week" begins I'm finding it hard to find time to be online. This means blogging, social media & emails will slow down. We also go rear ended last week and the Dr. informed me I have minor whiplash which isn't so bad some days and a bit worse others but I'm trying not to let that get me down or slow me down!

I feel like I'm on track with the organizing and planning and Ive finished 99% of all my DIY's which include My bouquet, bridesmaids bouquets, boutonnieres, table #'s, sweet table signs, signs to use during out photography, our glitter initials, my fur wrap, favour tags, favours, place cards, my shoes and some other items that I cant yet reveal!

Oh and we also just booked out Honeymoon woohoo! Anyone that's planned this big of a wedding can probably agree with me when I say man am I looking forward to the honeymoon!

These last 10 months of planning and preparing for this next stage in my life has really put a lot of things into perspective. I'm so excited to start this next chapter with my husband to be and so ready to leave everything else that doesn't matter behind.
