Oh YES, Caryl Baker Visage Offers Facials and Im a Fan!

When you think of Caryl Baker Visage you may think of eye brow waxing, makeup applications, quality products and maybe even skincare but did you know that that offer a whole line of facials too?!

Oh yes they do! I got the chance to visit the location at the Pickering Town Centre where I met with Jacqulyn (who happened to be the owner) for their Ultimate Facial now called their Pure Oxygen Facial experience. She was full of interesting facts & knowledge which immediately made me super comfortable.

After she explained the steps of the facial and got me comfortable behind the privacy screen (great feature!) she took the time to examine my skin under a magnifying mirror -yikes, applied eye covers so that the light & products wouldn't get near my eyes and began the facial.

She started by cleansing & toning my skin with their organic line called Organics which I had no idea they even had but loved immediately. The cleanser really felt like it gave me a deep clean and smelled really nice.

The facial was a 60 minute treatment that combines the use of hydrating collagen and pure oxygen. Some of the benefits include:
Breathing life back into your skin cells
Stimulates collagen and elastin growth
Lightens and brightens appearance of skin
Fades pigmentation naturally
Improves rosacea, acne, all forms of dermatitis such as eczema and psoriasis
Maintains moisture and nutrient levels resulting in a supple youthful appearance

The collagen mask which is a sheet that looks like a face that is placed over your entire face and left to sit for 10 minutes or so to work its magic. The mask is super cold and refreshing when applied and felt moist against my skin. Lying back with this baby on my skin I almost fell asleep thank god it was cold because if it was warm I would have been out like a light!

Overall I really enjoyed my entire experience at Caryl Baker Visage. From the customer service to the knowledgable staff to the quality products I wouldn't hesitate to recommend heading in the next time you are in need of a facial!

Over the next few days I noticed my skin looking a lot more radiant, refined and just better overall. I couldn't be happier with the product and plan on going back to get it done again.

The Pure Oxygen Facial is regularly $105 or for Beauty Club Members $89. Well worth every penny!

My BLEACHBRIGHT™ Cosmetic Teeth Whitening experience

Last night I went to get my teeth whitened an early birthday present to myself.
I had a $45 birthday credit at Caryl Baker Visage which is also where I get my eyebrows done and I decided to use it on their new BLEACHBRIGHT™ Cosmetic Teeth Whitening Service.
Priced regularly at $99.00 and $85.00 for beauty club members (which I am).

I was skeptical but since I had the credit I thought id just try it and see what happens.
I sat in the chair as one of my fav girls there Josie set me up in this contraption. She placed trays in my mouth and then placed me in front of this light machine.

I sat like that for 20 mins and although I cant say it was super comfy because the saliva was piling up in my mouth and I didn't want to swallow, it wasn't anything I couldn't handle. 20 minutes really isn't that long so I just tried not to focus on my mouth too much. I tweeted, sent this pic to the Mr, listen to conversations in the store and looked around and the products on the shelves to pass the time.

When my 20 mins were up I was asked to spit everything including the mouth piece into a paper towel until I felt all the solution was out of my mouth. This was the worst part cuz you can taste it all and it doesn't taste too good. After I was done with that I was given a finger brush up sleeve and asked to rub it all over my teeth. This helped a lot with the taste.

And Voila I was done! I was told that there may be calcium spots but that they would go away in a few hours. In total the whitening came to $54 (with my discount) and I went up approx 3 shades in color which is pretty good if you ask me. My top front teeth have always been whiter than the rest due to braces but this really whitened the bottom and side teeth that were way more yellow then Id care to admit.

I ended up buying the after care stick because really whats the point if you aren't going to maintain it right? It was approx $30 (reg $39) cuz again I was able to use my 20% member birthday discount.

Here is the before and after shot... not the greatest its more of a contrast in person but you get the idea.

I'm totally satisfied with how it turned out on me. There was zero sensitivity in my gums and although the tip of my tongue felt a bit numb for 20 mins after it went away and I've had no side effects since. This morning after brushing I used the touch up stick which I think I will use every morning or every other morning as it only takes 5 minutes. I feel more confident with my smile now and I cant wait to show off that smile on my brithday this weekend!

If you are looking for an affordable way to get your teeth 2-4 shades whiter I would definitely look into BLEACHBRIGHT™ Cosmetic Teeth Whitening Service at a Caryl Baker Visage near you!

A natural solution to filling in brows!

A defined brow can really polish off your look and balance the face. When I ask my clients if they ever fill in their brows most say no. When I ask why not they often either say they never thought of it or that they really don't like a harsh brow.

Filling in a brow doesn't always have to look harsh. I like to use powders to fill in brows as I find it gives a softer more natural look than a pencil does. One brow powder I really like is the "Brow Blend" by Caryl Baker Visage. It comes 3 shades in 1 and can work for anyone from fair blonde's to dark brunettes which is why its not only great for personal use but for the pros too.

The brow blend which retails at all Caryl Baker Visage stores and online for $19.50 cdn is a little on the high side but if you consider that this product will last you over a year its not bad. Ive been using mine on clients as well as myself for about 2 years now and you can see below that its barely made a dent.

For my brows which are dark but sparse I like to use the medium shade for a really natural look. It doesn't look filled in or like I have product there if you didn't know it just looks more polished and it really completes any look.

(Left:Before, Right: After)

Something as small and easy as filling in your brows can make a huge difference in your overall look so take the time to explore natural ways of filling in those pesky spaces.

Other recommendations for great powders to use on brows are Omega shadow by Mac for blonde - light brown hair and Embark can work for darker hair. Remember to use a stiff angle brush like the one shown above and to apply shadow lightly and build as too much too soon will be hard to take off. If you do add too much try using the tip of a Q-Tip to remove some of the powder.

There are many options for filling in brows find the one that works best for you!
