Toronto 2010 IMATS Haul

This was one busy weekend between working with Vasanti Cosmetics at the National Women's Show and the Toronto IMATS, but the lack of sleep and early mornings were well worth it. Not only did Vasanti's own Gargi Patel break the Guinness Book of World Records™ for the most lipstick applied in 1 hour (445 women!) but the show was a success and it was great to be a part of the Vasanti team once again.

Saturday was a day I had been waiting and saving for a while. I had my mental list ready and only brought the cash I had budgeted for, but all planning kind of went out the window once I got there because I'll admit I was lured in by reps I know and love, big show specials and Kandee Johnson. Yup, after hearing that woman speak first thing in the morning I ran right over to Crown Brushes to purchase her fav contouring brush the IB103 Flat Bronzer and a few other brushes.

This year had a much larger turn out than last years IMATS and I think that was partly due to the draw that KJ had (you should have seen the lineup for her meet and greet wow). Some of the big vendors there were NYX with a large booth smack dab in the middle, Crown Brushes, Makeup Forever, Face Atelier, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, Namies that had CoverFX at their booth, Yaby and many more.

Now for my haul.... I spent more than I wanted to even though it was within my budget but overall I'm really happy with the items I got. I cant wait to play!

Not a bad shopping day huh! I had a blast and was so happy I got to meet some new bloggers and reconnect with the ones I already knew.

Have you Pre-Poo'd Lately?

When I first heard this term being used around cyberspace and on blogs I thought it was something gross and so of course I clicked on it out of curiosity as to why it would be on a beauty blog and found out that Pre-Pooing is simply putting conditioner and other oils on your hair before you shampoo your hair to help strengthen and moisturize your locks.


Of Course it is!

So of course I went home that night and slathered my hair in conditioner (I didn't have any oils) and sat patiently for 45 minutes before I washed it out and shampooed as I normally would. Once my hair was dry I could feel a difference, it was softer.... much softer and I was hooked.

I can proudly say that I am now officially a Pre-Pooer!

My next step is to find natural oils such as lavender oil, almond oil, coconuts oil, olive oil and even honey to add into my pre-poo regime and I'm all set!

Toronto IMATS 2010 Will you be there?

Last year I attended the IMATS (International Make-Up Artist Trade Show) and met up with some awesome beauty bloggers. This year Ive organized a Toronto Beauty Blogger meet up so that we can all meet new bloggers and beauty junkies! What are you most looking forward to this year?

For me its Miss Kandee Johnson! If you have now idea who she is well... you must not be into beauty or you must be living under a rock. She's a major YouTube guru, blogger & a seriously talented makeup artist to boot. She's also very pregnant right now which makes her all the more my hero for even attending the show. Kandee will be speaking at 10am Saturday morning and Ill be there with my camera ready and my jaw on the floor im sure lol.

Steven & Chris 2 Handsome Men You Need To Know!

I recently go invited to attend the Steven & Chris Show to join a special audience full of design, lifestyle, fashion, mommy & beauty bloggers. I arrived at the CBC Building to find a long line of chatty bloggers who seemed to all know at least someone in the crowd... I was a bit intimidated until I saw a familiar face Michelle from Lipstick Rules :)

Once inside we took our seats and the taping began. I had been to a taping about a month ago so I was familiar with how witty and absolutely stunning Steven & Chris were in real life (slightly crushing!). I laughed a ton as usual throughout the segments and when they announced that their special guest was none other than Jenny Mccarthy I was really interested to see what she would be like in real life.... Yup as suspected shes tall, a size 2, wore stunning Louboutin shoes that I could never walk in and has a head of hair that I would kill for!

She talked about her new book Love Lust & Faking It: The Naked Truth About Sex, Lies, and True Romance and told us about some past memories. She also joked about Jim Carrey (in a fun way) a few times but gave us no dirt on the situation.

After the taping we were treated to a light lunch where we were joined by both Steven & Chris and their CBC mate George Stroumboulopoulos otherwise known as Strombo! We mingled I met a few other bloggers and then it was back in the studio for a question and answer session with the boys, we then had the opportunity to take pictures with them (I didn't get any boo) and were given a cool gift bag on our way home.

I had such a blast that I'm already trying to book a date to go back! If you haven't checked out The Steven & Chris show (2pm weekdays on CBC) I suggest you do, you will be in for a ton of laughs, eye candy ;) and great design, fashion & beauty ideas that may just come in handy!

Faces By Farah was also featured on the Steven & Chris website in a post entitled "Bloggers We Love"  so a huge thanks goes out to the CBC team for the shout out and the entire experience as I had a blast.

LGFW S/S 2011 Day 2 Beauty – Scouts Canada & Classic Glam Hairdo’s Were Present!

Once again the GalleryFemme.com team was present and representing on day 2 of LGFW. Last night at LG Fashion Week was even crazier than the day before and I suspect the nights line up of shows Attitude By Sears, Rachel Mara & much anticipated Joe Fresh had a lot to do with that!

The attendees showed up with gowns, jewels, of course glam makeup and hair and accessories only the fashion crowd could pull off.

The evening began with Attitude by Sears where the models strutted down the runway sporting chic perfectly styled low buns. Again light fresh makeup and contoured cheeks were the look that played well of the soft muted colours of the clothes.

 Winnipeg-born Rachel Mara began who showed at LGFW for the first time began her show with a video montage that drew inspiration from old bank heists, classic film heroines and retro ’60s glam which set the scene for what was about to come down the runway.  The crowd was wowed by what seemed to be the floating curled coifs that were by far the most unique ‘do’ of the night and the simple yet sexy makeup that accompanied it.

 The last show of the night was by far the most sought after ticket and with an invite only list you can imagine the chaos that occurred but in the end the room was jam packed and buzzing with anticipation. The theme off the show seemed to play of their recent partnership with The Scouts of Canada to redesign their uniforms. Again stylish buns and clean makeup were the theme… I’m seeing a trend for Spring/Summer 2011… clean & sophisticated.

LGFW S/S 2011 Day 1 Beauty Was All About The Romance!

I attended day 1 of  Toronto's LG Fashion Week with my GalleryFemme.com team who has been working through the night to bring you some amazing photos and updates from the shows. Feel free to visit GalleryFemme.com for more coverage on the fashion aspect of the shows.

From the clothes to the beauty yesterdays showings gave a huge sense of romance. From the long flowing straight hair and the soft braided ponytails to the fresh dewy skin, contoured cheeks and soft pink lips it was all about the soft and pretty for S/S 2011.

 As always the L’oreal hair and makeup team was there in full force beautifying the crowd and making them photo ready. This year the L’oreal lounge was located near the front of  Toronto’s  Heritage Court Building as to not be missed on your way in. Offered was a chance to get your hair and makeup done by some amazing pro artists and a swag bag to go for those lucky enough to get there early!

Halloween makeup ideas for this years costume

We are now well into October and while you Canadians may have turkey on the brain another holiday is right around the corner. Halloween!
