Every 3 weeks for about 4 years I made the short drive to the little nail place by my condo to get my bio gel refills done. They came to know me by name and I even had my own "box" of tools set aside for me but when I started doing makeup professionally I quickly realized that the nails had to go. I had them removed over 2 years ago and my poor nails have suffered since.
I feel like Ive tried everything to keep my nails for breaking, cracking and splitting including taking Biotin in hopes those little pills that claim to make nails strong would work but nada. No "extra strength" or "hardening" nail polish has worked and my nails are driving me nuts!
They catch on my clothing, make washing my hair a royal pain and I can forget about wearing nail polish because the cracks always come through. So Im reaching out to blogland for help!
What can I do to cure my nail blues? Do you know of a product or a suggestion that will help fix my situation for good?
HELP :(

you know me...it all boils down to our body and what it may be lacking in nutrition.Call me for details xo
Yes I'm thinking something lacking in your diet? My nails starting splitting a few months ago and someone suggested that I was calcium deficient. I can't milk but for some reason I can handle yogurt and my nails have been pretty good since. (not as strong as they were when I was younger, but definitely better).
Try a Shellac manicure ... its a nail polish that is like an acrylic, so it gives your nails strength. It lasts for 2-3 weeks and doesn't harm your natural nail. I love it and always get lots of compliments when I have my nails done. I've blogged about it, too.
:o)
I totally feel your pain! For me I think it's a hormonal thing as when I am pregnant my nails become strong and just amazing!!! The rest of the time not so much! I always wear my Orly Nail Armor because it gives strength but even then I get some breakage. I must admit since baby was born my nails have been ignored and I am so paying for it now!
You should invest in OPI Nail Envy, it works wonders and it makes your nails grow beautifully!
i agree that OPI's nail envy works wonders!
and maybe moisturizing your hands a lot might help too? i'm not sure if that is scientifically proven but it can't hurt right?
Ok my solution.... calcium pills and OPI's nail envy!! I will start this weekend ;) Thanks for all the tips
i just started (literally today) using nailtique formula 2 plus because i heard such good things. Loodie's series really helped me to figure out a treatment to use:

I agree with the nutrition advice. Calcium, calcium, calcium!!!! Whenever I stop drinking milk I almost immediately notice my nails becoming more brittle. And of course when I start again, they are almost unbreakable!
Let us know how it goes :)
