Because the place I was moving to wasn't as big as I had spent 2 years planning for the sectional idea went out the window and although I ended up with some really nice leather/sofa bed couches which I have been using for the last 9 years or so, they weren't no sectional!
Now that I will be moving to a house which is almost 3x the size of my condo I finally have room for my sectional! The idea of the perfect couch has been the easy part, actually finding the one I want has been a wee bit difficult.
I had always envisioned a plush, tan colored micro-fiber sectional because they are so cozy but after having a little chat with my friend, blogger and mom Lena I quickly learned why micro-fiber may not be the best choice if you plan on introducing kids into the mix! Although no kids are anywhere near the mix now they are in the eventual picture and so my focus has now shifted to leather.
The house has dark hardwood floors kinda like my place now (see above pic) and off white walls which have wainscoting on them so we wont be painting them. The current owners have black leather there right now but I feel chocolate brown leather is more inviting so I think Ive narrowed my search to dark brown leather sectionals balanced with a cream or grey/tan rug and this amazing Ashley Furniture swivel chair which I love.
The sectional pictured above is from The Brick, my brother has it and its actually really nice its more of a black/brown leather so I'm still on the hunt but at least I have a plan B choice right?
How do you feel about sectionals? Do you own one? Know where I can score a great looking one at an even better price??
Id love to hear your thoughts.

Hey, that's my sectional from The Brick too! LOL...
BTW- LOVE the swivel chair. I want.
We got the opposite advice when shopping for our sofas - we bought them in New York, and the sales person at Pottery Barn advised us to get microfiber when she heard that we had twin toddlers - as it just wipes clean.
We ended up purchasing our sofas from another store, but we bought microfiber sofas (in light blue), and they are a lifesaver - I've wiped off milk, chocolate, curry EVERYTHING - and it doesn't stain. I've only ever used a wet microfiber cloth to clean it, sometimes with some dish soap.
I'm not sure if there are different types of microfiber - but don't give up your tan micrifiber dream yet :-)
Hi Farah,
I bought my sectional from a place on Bloor and Jarvis for way cheaper than any of the big chain furniture stores. It's pretty nice to look at. The main problem with it is that because it's from one of those small places, there's no warranty against wear and tear. Do places like the brick have anything like that, say if stitches rip?
Overall, it's a beautiful white leather sectional and I get lots of compliments on it. If you want, I'll e-mail you a picture.

My sister and bro-in-law have a sectional in their condo and it is seriously the best thing in the world! I wish I had room for one in my apartment. Happy furniture shopping Farah! :)
