When a client once asked me for a dark lip liner to outline the soft pink lips I had just applied I was a surprised. For some reason I just assumed (I should never assume!) lip liners weren't commonly
anymore, especially to add a dark outline to the lips.
It did however make me think, and so I want to know..... Are you a lip liner fan?
Is it part of your daily routine?
Makeup artists, do you use them on every client?

I do have lip liiners in my kit. I don't always use them but there are occasions where they come in handy!
I too have been asked for the dark lip line with a light ink lip by a bride. In that case in did politely offer a different option as I immediately thought about how dated that may look ;)
Interesting I actually ALWAYS wear a lip liner when I'm wearing lipstick! I use a nude liner that's close to my lip shade - I just feel like the lipstick stays on longer and goes on neater (or it's just in my head :P )
I'm a definite lip liner fan. It adds the wear of my lipsticks and at times changes the actual colour of the lipstick to compliment my skin tone more.
I used to use a lip liner to go under all lipstick to make it last longer, but it always felt really dry and waxy.
yea i always use lipliner, even i have one in nude color which i applied on all nude and lighter lipstick shades, well it define the lip shape and especially when i applied lipgloss i badly need it otherwise my lips looks like ....yunkiiess
I'm not a huge fan of lip liners but I agree it is a must when you're doing bold lips..
I also really like using a lip liner with my nudes as they can wash me out a lil
I NEVER use lipliner and my lipstick and lipgloss lasts just fine.
I always use lip liner to keep my lipstick on....it blends right in.
I think lip liner is great with a bold/red lip, should be used lightly with natural looking lips or not at all.
For me, dark lip liner with light lips is a no no!
I used to stay away from lip liners until I found Prestige Silk lip liner. I use it to counter the dark rim around my mouth instead of concealer. Love it!
On myself, I use it if I need my lipstick to last a long time and I don't have time to touch up throughout the day. But if I'm on the go I just swipe on some lipstick or lipgloss and skip the liner.
On clients, yes I always use lipliner.
Thanks for all your comments. I know a lot of makeup artists use liners on clients to hold the lipstick longer but with the Mac Pro Longware stains I use its more about the look than the staying power for me.
On a personal level I think I may have to re-discover liners since I hate wearing lipstick. Perhaps a liner gloss combo would work best ;)
